Mineral Sunscreen

Mineral sunscreen protects your skin with mineral filters such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. These filters sit on the skin and reflect UV radiation. Mineral SPF is often chosen for sensitive skin, because it contains no chemical filters. Modern formulas are much lighter than they used to be and leave far less white cast.

Mineral sunscreen: protection with zinc oxide

Popular mineral sunscreen

  • The Mineral Sunscreen from Transparent Lab is a 100% mineral SPF50 with non-nano zinc oxide, colourless and, according to the product description, also suitable for sensitive skin.
  • The Mineral Tinted Sunscreen from Transparent Lab has a light tint that evens out your skin tone and minimises white cast.
  • The Daily Mineral SPF 50+ from Glowth is a super-light day cream with SPF 50+ for every skin type, even sensitive skin.

Mineral or chemical?

Chemical filters convert UV radiation into heat and often feel even a little lighter. Mineral filters work as soon as you apply them. Both protect well, as long as you use enough. For the highest protection, choose SPF 50. To top up, a sun stick is handy.

Many Korean sunscreens also use mineral filters. Find them in Korean SPF, or go back to all sunscreen.
